Chianti Querceto Castello di Querceto 2009, Italy
A food friendly wine with intense black cherries and tar on the nose. Firm tannins and noticeable acidity which lend itself well to rich dishes.

Château Bel Air 2009, Bordeaux
Elegant restrained with notes of ripe plums, berry fruits, a hint of spice and violet.   The palate is dry and extremely pleasant.

Barbera d’Asti, La Caplana 2008, Italy
Babera is a versatile grape variety extensively grown in Italy. This particular example comes from a small 30 year old vineyard and exhibits sweet fruits on the nose and palate. It is dry, well balanced with a pleasant juicy finish that includes notes of red cherries, violets, hints of minerals and spice.

Rioja Crianza Tinto Seleccion Bodegas Tobia 2007, Spain
A well structured, award-winning wine, which combines pronounced blackberry fruit with a hint of vanilla.
Excellent texture, round tannins and a pleasant  long finish.

Aromas of blackcurrant, liquroice and vanilla follow through to a rich and ample palate.

The bouquet is subtle with notes of black fruits and a hint of spice. On the palate the wine displays lovely generosity of red fruits with velvety texture and a firm sophisticated structure.

A very dark, deeply coloured wine with a bright purple rim. Mineral nose with notes of red fruits and a soft, chalky character.
The palate is rounded, creamy and attractive with approachable tannins.

Château Lagrange 2000, St Julien Bordeaux
Robert Parker describes this as ‘the best ever made’.  It is a dense ruby/purple colour and this is accompanied by pure notes of creme de cassis, cedar, spice box and a hint of cherries.
Full bodied and powerful, it is also opulent with a long length.
